MissNine: Mom, do you know what my two favorite things are?
Me: No, what?
MissNine: You, and cheese and pickles!
Me: That's three things!
MissNine: You expect me to get rid of pickles??

Me: I'm sooooo excited! Elvis Costello is coming to the Paramount in April!
MissNine: Isn't he really old?
Me: I think he's a few years older than I am.
MissNine: (drily) Well, I hope he doesn't have a stroke onstage or anything.

MissNine: (looking at today's mail) Mom! Look! The boat sent you a postcard from the Bahamas!
Me: What?? Oh, cool! (Bruise Cruise, which I am VERY excitedly covering in February, sent a funny postcard.)
MissNine: That's one smart boat. It also has very girly handwriting.

wait--what? you get to go on the cruise from Miami to the Bahamas? That *is* cool! but MissNine doesn't get to go? tragic! :-)

And yes, I get to go! But since I anticipate that I will be working pretty much the entire time, I cannot also supervise her properly, so she will be arriving in FL post-cruise for some more traditional family fun!
