PHOTOS & VIDEO: HALONA COVE & SANDY BEACH, OAHU, HAWAII 4/5/11

I'm back at home in Seattle-ish now, still catching up on Hawaii stuff to share with you (and catching up on sleep). On our last full day in Hawaii we took a drive east, past Honolulu and Waikiki and Diamond Head, and stopped at various pretty sights. It's remarkable how each part of the island, which really is quite compact, has such different beaches, plant life, and character.

This must be one of the loveliest spots on the island: Halona Cove. Just breathtaking.

If it looks familiar to you, this is why:

Yes, that's the famous beach kiss scene from the 1953 film "From Here To Eternity" with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. Cool!

This guy really wasn't supposed to be down there fishing. Fisher Guy, you crazyman.

Then it was a quick jaunt over to Sandy Beach Park to watch the local surfers do their things and get bashed around and have fun.

One more video. The song is "Goodbye Hawaii" by Henry Hall and the BBC Orchestra. Aloha, y'all!
